Elite 17 Black Wins AAU National Championship

Jun 23, 2017 9:55:36 AM

Elite VBTC 17 Black will be returning from the 44th AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Championships with hardware. Last night, they were crowned National Champions of the 103 teams in the 17 Premier Division!

Elite VBTC 17 Black finished the tournament with an impressive 13-0 record, dropping just 4 sets throughout the entire tournament. In the National Championship match, Elite claimed the title after defeating MVA 17 Black in three sets (16-25, 25-18, 15-8). This is a HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT, and we are so proud to have Elite Volleyball Training Center in the Smack family and competing in their custom sublimated Smack Sportswear uniforms.

Elite Head Coach, Randy Cline, was understandably proud of his team. "We had a great weekend. We have 11 girls on our roster, and every single one of them contribued through the week and contributed to our success. I've had this team for two years, so it's been great watching them grow. We were tested at times, but we were playing some superb volleyball that just got better throughout the weekend."

With 2,400 teams registered and an expected 40,000 spectators, 9,000 coaches, and 500 college coaches, AAU Nationals has been the Guinness Book of World Records ‘world’s largest volleyball event’ for the past 4 years. The AAU Girls’ Junior National Championships started with an Opening Celebration and Ceremonies on June 14th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, where teams marched in Olympic style. They will conclude on June 26th, after crowning 33 National Champions.

Congrats again to this talented and hardworking group of girls, and good luck to the rest of #smackfamily teams still competing!
