A Partnership Built in Hermosa

Sean Rosenthal to Sport Smack

Hermosa Beach, CA - July 13, 2017--- Olympian Sean Rosenthal will be sporting Smack Sportswear for the rest of the AVP season. For Smack, Sean is the perfect representation of the California lifestyle brand. For Sean, Smack is a return to his roots.

Sean Rosenthal is a SoCal kid, and Smack is a SoCal brand. Rosenthal grew up along the beach, went to Redondo High, and could be found practicing along Hermosa's 8th street--a place where many of the top pros still practice today. Smack was founded on the sands of Manhattan Beach, has had offices in Hermosa, and currently resides in Redondo. Smack owner and CEO, Bill Sigler, runs volleyball classes and leagues for the City of Hermosa. Hermosa residents all look forward to his hugely popular "Smackfest" costume tournament each year.

This isn't the first time that Smack Sportswear and Rosenthal have crossed paths. Bill and Sean have a history together that's more than twenty years old. In fact, Bill would often play against 15-year-old Sean in A-rated CBVA tournaments. "I can't think of a better athlete that represents our brand than Sean," said Bill. "Both epitomize the SoCal lifestyle, and especially the South Bay where so many of the top volleyball players live and train."

Of course, Sean's volleyball career has come a long way since then. He's represented the USA in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, alongside partner Jake Gibb. Some of his professional accomplishments include 11 tour victories in the AVP, Best Server in the AVP in 2002, Best Defensive Player in the AVP in 2007, and participation in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. The athlete has also accumulated an entourage of fan's known as "Rosie's Raiders," composed of his loud and rowdy friends that enjoy going to tournaments to support him (usually with cowbells and bullhorns in hand).

Now finishing out the 2017 AVP season, Rosenthal has a new partner in Trevor Crabb. The Olympian will be wearing Smack Sportswear custom sublimated board shorts in the remaining tour events--the Hermosa, Manhattan, and Chicago AVP Tournaments. Smack will be desigining a line of completely custom board shorts just for Sean, and they will be available for purchase on the Smack website shortly after the Hermosa Open. More casual fans can also purchase our Limited Edition "Rosie's Raiders" t-shirts and fan gear to wear in support of this South Bay athlete.

"I'm really excited to be working with Smack," said Sean. "Since I was a kid, I've loved what their brand stood for and love the SoCal designs they make." Even more than his accolades, Smack Sportswear is proud to have our newest Smack athlete illustrate what our brand embodies: the SoCal lifestyle. Both and the South Bay will undoubtedly be well-represented at AVP Hermosa.
