Smackfest 2017 Recap

Jun 21, 2017 8:10:13 PM

Every year, we celebrate Smack Sportswear's birthday with the biggest SoCal lifestyle event of the summer, and this year was no different. This Saturday, June 16 at the Hermosa Pier was the 24th Annual Smackfest Tournament.

Over 1,000 people participated in the event, and a crowd for nearly 5,000 was there to watch the fun. Some teams try to win the tournament, and others try to win the fun, but one thing's for sure -- from Britney Spears to Mario Kart characters to Coronas to nuns, this year's costumes were the best yet. If you haven't already, check out the full photo album of 500 photos on the Smackfest Events Facebook Page. Be sure to tag your friends! Finally, check out PubClub's all-access video of the tournament.

Smack Sportswear is proud to celebrate our birthday with true, SoCal lifestyle that we were founded on over two decades ago. When teams weren't playing, they could hang out in the team pop-up tents, visit the booths of our awesome sponsors, or party in the bars on Pier Plaza. Smackfest Founder, Bill Sigler, says Smackfest event is his favorite volleyball event of the year. "Smack Sportswear has always represnted the SoCal lifestyle, which is exemplified in Smackfest. That's the primary reason for the tournament's success, and why Smackfest has become the largest coed 4's event west of the Mississippi."

Congrats to our 2017 Smackfest Fun Division Champions --- Courtney Wilson, Jeff Urton, Angela Akers & Jenn Snyder!

Another huge congrats goes out to the Smackfest 2017 Pro Division Champs ---- Team Shipfaced with Greg Faulkner, Jon Mesko, Jace Olsen, Cinnamon Meadows, and Casey Mohician.

We'd like to give a huge thank you to our awesome Smackfest 2017 sponsors --- especially Michelob Ultra for being our Presenting Sponsor for the last 19 years, and Electric Sky wine for being a Gold Sponsor. We really appreciate all of the support. You'll be seeing a lot of them this year at all Smackfest Events tournaments, classes, leagues, and festivals.

Smackfest started 24 years ago with the birth of Smack Sportswear, and we appreciate everyone coming out to their annual birthday celebration. The good news is, you've got plenty of time to plan and recover before next year's event. It will be the 25th Annual Smackfest, so it's sure to be a good one. Thanks again to everyone who came out to participate or celebrate, and see you next year!
